There are times when I think I’m a monkey…and there are times when I think I’m a rabbit. Yes, it doesn’t make sense at all. Doesn’t make sense because you can’t dig the idea, right? Because all you want is an “intellectual masturbation”. Don’t you think it is, too?
It doesn’t make sense when you stare at me as if I’m an alien from Mars. Why? Do I look as fake as you are? Yeah. I’m not your mirror. But why do you keep on imitating my image? Does it make sense?
Maybe I was wrong to think this way. Huh? Let me think. Let me think once more.
Oh! I just can’t decipher how it came across my cerebral content this very moment. Shit! I forgot to unplug the iron I left at the kitchen table. Yeah. I was ironing the plates before I came in this cave to write you a short crap from my restless mind.
The moon is going full swing. The wicked moon sometimes…

yeah.
no day but today.
last night, right after 00:00 A.M., i got messages from good friends…the first one came from my partner, the WeeWee goddess. and followed by a cool picture message from my professor. whew! i never she would wake up right after midnight just to send me a greeting…i appreciated the effort very much! a delight to get it from an Aquarian friend. then another by KCism…and Sebastian P.K.
the night rolled by as i sat on the classic chair and was scribbling my thoughts on my perpetual journal given by my japanese friend, Yoshiki. i felt like i was in a different place, different country…in the loft somewhere in the Greenwich Village…or some Parisian art studio…it was a different feel that i practically enjoyed.
of course, i thought of my beautiful mom. and my family and my wonderful friends. i was amazed to have made a little family in this University Town i soon be leaving behind. there is a sense of getting away for a while…i walk along the same pavements…cross the same pedestrians…oh! that pillar we painted over looks beautiful now…it makes my friend Sue happy everytime she passes that pillar…great…just so great that it touched a person.
i’m supposed to go home today, but i reconsidered the plan due to an invitation to share to the kids my life’s work. so, i made my little biographical sketch…my line of work…influences…it was a lot of fun to be with the kids. i celebrated my natal day with them…i thought of going for a swin afterwards, but ended up having a kaffeeklatsch with friends…
well, i have to leave now…the plane is about to leave for cyprus…ticket, passport, and no baggage…
indeed, NO DAY BUT TODAY…
may all of you enjoy a daily dose of lovepeace…artpaix…

“Imagine…people living life in peace…”
By Razcel Jan Luiz Salvarita
“We all have Hitler in us, but we also have love and peace. So why not give peace a chance?” ~ John Lennon
Twenty-six years ago, on December 8, John Lennon – comedian, actor, musician, and peace activist – was shot to death right in front of his apartment in
New York City
. Yet with all his ‘dreams evaporated’, the peace movement continues with his spirit tagging along – Lennon says, “I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only the one.”
Indeed, he is “not the only one”. There were so many “dreamers” before him. He was among the “addict” for peace and love like Jesus Christ, Dalai Lama, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, among others.
Last Tuesday,
Silliman
University
launched the new Justice and
Peace
Center
with two distinguished guests, Dr. Ibrahim Bahjin, Supreme Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo, and Dr. Francisco Nemenzo, former President of the University of the
Philippines
.
While Dr. Bahjin’s talk was a “sultanate” perspective of peace in Mindanao, Dr. Nemenzo explored the possibility of “social order transformation” in the
Philippines
.
I recently met two youth representatives from Basilan at the Youth for Sustainable Development Assembly. We obviously talked about sustainable progress and how “peace is necessary” to build a stable community and environmental sustainability. One of them made a comment on how the media “sensationalizes” the news. It is always about “war, religious strife, kidnapping”. He thinks “it’s unfair to stain our place with such bad news when we want to live a normal life.”
It is the same observation Dr. Ibrahim emphasized of how media ventures into the “bloodiest century of all time.” But media works positively, too. The youth organization Brotherhood of Destin (BROOD) helps with the PeaceTech Teleconferencing among young people from other regions to connect with Mindanao youth representatives and consult and discuss on how to bring in peace in Mindanao in a youth perspective.
“But the slaughter of reporters, leftists, lawyers, labor leaders, priests, students and human-rights workers in the Philippines continues with a fury…nearly 800 such people have been killed since President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo took power in 2001, reports the local human-rights group Karapatan, while Amnesty International recorded 51 cases of what it calls ‘political killings’…when it comes to journalists – the murder rate is only second to Iraqs,” writes Andrew Marshall in his essay A Philippine Shame in the Time Asia magazine.
Thus, the statement eventually supports the thought of Dr. Nemenzo and as written by Randy David in his column The Intellectual is Political, “He (Nemenzo) believes that the country is in crisis because the existing order has betrayed the fundamental interests of the Filipino masses, particularly the young people.”
The former UP president and national chairman of Laban ng Masa who “encouraged non-conformism in every discipline” and supports “fearless dissenters and eccentric thinkers” is charged of rebellion against the government that “bluntly shows an authoritarian bent”.
He said that what is going on in the political arena is a “power play of the elite” and it is such an “entertainment” to local and international audience. At the moment, he “cannot think of any one that is worst” than GMA.
The government’s way of gaining peace is through “extra-judicial killings” – the killing of those “voices” that “speaks out” for “political reform and social order transformation.”
Do we need the kind of government that tranquilizes justice, freedom and human rights?
Al Gore, in his An Inconvenient Truth documentary, says, “political will is renewable.”
Since it is indeed “renewable”, I hope that everyone must rethink, relearn, remember that the only way for the country to reroute its direction is to select leaders with visions of peace and ecological justice because the future demands a great effort for sustainability like that on food security.
The “WE” generation can no longer sit and watch the turn of events without doing something for a positive future. In
Indonesia
, 73% of students coming from the country’s top three universities look forward to work in non-governmental organizations than the government as “we” found out that NGOs and private organizations do most of the jobs that the government is supposed to be doing. The youngbloods are encouraged to take a step in leading the “we” generation to a much promising years ahead.
All right. What’s best is that everyone is working for humanity (but not too anthropocentric).
Today is International Human Rights Day. So?
As John Lennon’s song Imagine fades away, “You might say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. Maybe some day you’ll join us…and the world will live as one.”

while waiting for plane to fly me back home, i induced myself with words of Haruki Murakami’s novel Dance, Dance, Dance. i virtually danced inside the airport terminal holding a folded Newsweek. outside the airport, the sky was painted with oh-so-beautiful-and-manificent clouds. whew! it was a surreal painting of Salvador Dali. up in the air, the cottony coulds were so huggable and chewable i was delighted to the core just seeing them oh-so-beautifully!
the clouds in different colors and forms made me smile. and with that smile came a series of thoughts of my trip in thailand were i met young people from different regions in Asia. but i was amazed with the beautiful morning. i was seated right beside the window as requested. from that vantage point, i saw lots of isolated islets. and the magnificent mt.Kanla-on! it paved the way to memory lane when i was on top of the crater of that wonderful volcano. i scribbled down some notes to my journal…my faithful companion anywhere in the world. it was a Moleskin journal given by my japanese friend Yoshiki. it was also the same journal Van Gogh and other artists and writers used before.
upon arrival, i spent some time at the little store outside the airport where i frequent for a cup of java. a delight since i asked to play my CD. every passenger left the airport…isolated. i was the lone passenger left still enjoying the fever of wandering and loving it.
next stop…norway. hehehehehe.
